What is the AP SHOW Phase 2 Campaign – Focusing on Suboptimal Erections (EHS 3)?

- Asia Pacific Sexual Health and Overall Wellness (AP SHOW) is an integrated communications campaign. The AP SHOW Phase 1 Messages Campaign was launched in 2009 and secured positive, on-message media coverage.

While AP SHOW Phase 1 showed that erection hardness is linked to better sex, better relationships, and better overall wellness for men and women, the AP SHOW Phase 2 Campaign targets men with suboptimal erections and their partners. The AP SHOW Phase 2 Campaign will also try to differentiate itself from the initial AP SHOW Phase 1 Messages Campaign by educating the public on issues surrounding suboptimal erections (Erection Hardness Scale [EHS] 3).

- The AP SHOW Phase 2 Campaign will consist of a number of tactics for your consideration.

AP SHOW Phase 2 Campaign – Focusing on Suboptimal Erections (EHS 3):

1. In Asia Pacific, 1 in 4 men believe their erections are frequently suboptimal (EHS 3). And women agree.

24% of men in Asia Pacific have an EHS score of 3.
44% of men have less-than-optimal erections (EHS 1–3).
24% of women believe their partners’ erections are suboptimal (EHS 3) during sex and 88% of these women are less than completely satisfied with their partners’ erection hardness.

2. More men under stress are less satisfied with erection hardness.

Of those men who are less stressed, almost half are satisfied with their erection hardness. However, of those men who are more stressed, only one third are satisfied with their erection hardness.
Therefore, stress levels are a possible cause of unsatisfying erections.

3. Men with suboptimal erections (EHS 3) are less satisfied with the feeling of attraction to their partner.

Regardless of erection hardness, almost the same percentage of men with EHS 3 and EHS 4 think that attraction is important.
42% of men with optimal erections are satisfied with their feelings of attraction to their partners, compared to only 30% of men with suboptimal erections.
On average, men with EHS 4 erections are significantly more positive about life than men with EHS 3 erections.

4. Men with less-than-optimal erections (EHS 1–3) find it embarrassing and worry about erection hardness issues.

More than half of men with EHS 1–3 are embarrassed and worried about erection hardness issues, and more than 60% of these men feel hesitant to try sexual intercourse again.
Women worry just as much as their partners if their partners have erection hardness issues.

5. The majority of men with suboptimal erections want to improve their sexual experience.

91% of men with suboptimal erections (EHS 3) want to improve their sexual experience.
2 out of 3 women who consider their partners to have suboptimal erections also want to improve their sexual experience.
